15 Italians stuck on island of Socotra
SOCOTRA, May 05 (YPA) – A group of 15 Italians, mostly foreigners, are stranded on the island of Socotra in Yemen.
The group, which started in Abu Dhabi with the only weekly flight to the island, no longer knows how to return because of the ongoing war in the country.
According to Italian media reports, the low-cost airline Air Arabia is reporting, in fact, that the return flight to the United Arab Emirates has been cancelled and could be re-scheduled for May 5th without giving any assurances.
“They don’t give us any news, we don’t know anything,” the Italians who traveled to Socotra said.
“As far as we know, the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has already contacted Emirates Airlines to ensure the resumption of air connections, and the first return flight may resume early on Sunday, May 5th,” they added.
