President of Columbia declares severance of diplomatic relations with Israeli occupation
SANAA, May 02 (YPA) – Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that his country would sever diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation, due to the war on Gaza.
This came in a speech he gave on Wednesday, to crowds in the capital, Bogota, in which he criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Reuters.
The Colombian president told the crowd: “We announce before you that we will sever relations with Israel, because it has a government and a president with a penchant for genocide”.
The Colombian president also requested to join South Africa’s lawsuit before the International Court of Justice, which accuses Israel of committing genocide.
Petro added that countries cannot be passive in the face of the events in the Gaza Strip.
