Guterres calls for independent investigation into Gaza’s mass graves, warns of danger of attack on Rafah
NEW YORK, May 01 (YPA) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called on Wednesday for conducting a comprehensive and independent investigation into the mass graves found in the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, Guterres stressed “the need to allow independent international investigators immediate access to the sites to determine the precise circumstances in which Palestinians lost their lives and were buried or reburied.”
He added that the war on the Gaza Strip destroyed its health system, noting that “some hospitals now resemble cemeteries.”
The UN Secretary-General also warned that the attack on Rafah would have a devastating impact on the Palestinians in Gaza and have serious repercussions for the region.
He also called on the Israeli occupation government to accelerate the entry of aid into Gaza and provide security for the accompanying crews, including UNRWA.
