UAE creates stifling crisis for citizens in Socotra

SOCOTRA, April 30 (YPA) – The people of the Yemeni Socotra Archipelago province, east of the Gulf of Aden, are suffering from a stifling domestic gas crisis created by the UAE contractor “ADNOC”, a local official in the province said.

The province undersecretary, Issa Muslim, loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, stated in a post on “Facebook” yesterday, Monday: “The sale of domestic gas continues to be halted for a period approaching a month, and citizens are deprived of it.”

He added that stopping Socotra’s share of gas, which was sold at the oil company’s prices, had stopped completely, indicating that there were Emirati interventions in not sending gas to the people of the island.

Muslim called on what he called the “jurisdictional authority” loyal to the UAE on the island to expedite the facilitation of sales procedures to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
