UKMTO receives report of incident 177NM southwest of Nishtun in Mahra

WORLD, April 28 (YPA) – The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has received a report of an incident 177NM southwest of Nishtun in Mahra province, east of Yemen.

“The Master of a Merchant Vessel reported that one small craft, blue and yellow in colour, with 4 persons onboard approached the vessel on the port side. The Merchant Vessel conducted self-protection measures. The small craft ceased its pursuit and left the vicinity,” UKMTO said in a statement.

According to the statement, the vessel and crew are reported safe and the vessel is continuing to its next port of call.

It added, “Authorities are investigating.”

“Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO,” the statement concluded.
