Norway confirms its ready to recognizing Palestine State
OSLO, April 25 (YPA) – Norway’s Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, revealed that his country may announce its recognition of the State of Palestine this spring.
In an interview with a local television channel, the minister said to respond to a question when Norway would recognize the State of Palestine, that Norway is working on this issue in cooperation with other countries.
“If people want to reach the principle of a two-state solution for two peoples,” he explained. “This requires the existence of two states, one of them is called Palestine and the other is Israel.”
The minister added: “It is impossible to achieve this principle without joint negotiations between them.”
Earlier, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed during a press conference with his Spanish counterpart that Oslo would be ready to officially recognize the State of Palestine at the same time as Madrid.
