The Pentagon: The situation in Ukraine is shifting in Russia’s favor

WORLD, April 18 (YPA) – Pentagon officials, led by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, said the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine is changing in Russia’s favor.

Austin told a House Armed Services Committee hearing: “I think we’re already starting to see that the situation on the battlefield is starting to turn in Russia’s favor.”

“We see their (Russian armed forces) acquisitions gradually, and we see that Ukrainians face a challenge in being able to hold their positions,” Austin said.

Austin stressed that Kiev urgently needs supplies of ammunition and weapons from the United States.

In the same context, the US Secretary of Defense called on Congress to approve the US administration’s request for additional funds to provide assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
