SANAA, March 31 (YPA) – The Ministry of Public Health and Population in Sanaa affirmed on Saturday that over 830,000 children under the age of five have died due to complications and repercussions of the US-Saudi blockade over the past nine years in Yemen.
In a statement, the ministry stated that it has documented the deaths of 3,184 children and the injury of 4,714 others due to the US-Saudi aggression. Since the beginning of the de-escalation, 375 citizens have been killed, and 2,629 others have been injured.
According to the ministry’s statistics, 69 healthcare workers have been killed, and 100 ambulances have been targeted by the aggression. Additionally, the US-Saudi aggression targeted 539 healthcare facilities, resulting in 55 percent of healthcare facilities being taken out of service. Moreover, airstrikes have directly destroyed pharmaceutical and medical oxygen factories.
The ministry further stated that the US-Saudi coalition committed a major crime by withholding salaries from 50,000 healthcare workers, noting that 45 percent of facilities are operating at minimum capacity.
It emphasized the urgent need to open Sanaa Airport without restrictions today to alleviate the suffering of patients and provide the missing pharmaceuticals.
