Meteorology warns against dust wave sweeping desert areas

SANAA, March 18 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology warned citizens and drivers against dust and sand stirred up by strong winds that lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility in the desert areas.

In its weather bulletin, the center called on citizens in the northwestern highlands where rain expected to fall, to be careful of torrential rains and the depths of valleys during and after the rain.

It expected high temperatures during the day in the desert areas and coastal plains, ranging between 32 and 38 degrees Celsius.

The center also expected scattered rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, may fall in parts of the provincs of Saada, Hajjah, Mahwit, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Raymah and Ibb.

According to the center, strong winds may blow on the western coast, the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, and the western Gulf of Aden, ranging its speeds between 20-35 knots.
