Officer assassinated in Lahj
LAHJ, March 15 (YPA) – Unknown gunmen on Thursday evening assassinated an officer works in criminal investigation in the coalition-controlled province of Lahj in southern Yemen.
Local sources in the governorate confirmed that the gunmen shot officer Hussein al-Ban, who works in criminal research, on his way to his home in Abbas neighborhood in the city of Hawta, the center of the governorate, after finishing Taraweeh prayers, and shot him dead on the spot.
It reported that the gunmen riding on a motorcycle managed to escape to an unknown destination amid accusations of the “southern transitional” elements of the UAE to be behind the incident.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ban is accused of torturing prisoners in the detention center of the UAE-backed “Fifth Brigade”.
