ADEN, March 03 (YPA) -Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, the head of UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), publicly dealt a blow to the legitimacy of Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of the so-called Presidential Leadership Council during a meeting of the STC in Aden.
Al-Zoubaidi, who is also the deputy to Al-Alimi, affirmed that the STC has entered a new phase of political and organizational work in forming what he called the “independent federal state.”
He urged leaders and members of the STC’s “Administrative Body of National Assembly” to “utilize human resources in achieving the desired goal.”
Political observers described Al-Zoubaidi’s announcement as a friendly slap in the face of Al-Alimi, who claims to be the president of the “republic.”
The leaders of the STC and Presidential Leadership Council are using the Yemeni situation to achieve their political and military goals in returning Yemen to its pre-unification state, with support and funding from the UAE and complicity from Saudi Arabia and the international community.
The STC seeks to separate all sovereign institutions from Sanaa and create its own version in Aden under the banner of “legitimacy,” in order to not leave the institutions under the administration of the Sanaa government.
Al-Alimi had disappeared in recent weeks following his participation in the Munich Security Conference in Germany in mid-November last year, amid reports of his return to reside in the Saudi capital Riyadh due to escalating disputes with other members of his council, including Al-Zoubaidi and Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition.
