TEHRAN, March 02 (YPA) – Iran started counting votes for parliamentary elections after polling stations closed at midnight on Friday.
The 12th session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections and the sixth session of the Assembly of Experts elections began at 8:00 am local time yesterday, Friday (4:30 am GMT).
Voting was extended three times until midnight due to wide popular participation.
In these elections, there were 1,218 main and sub-electoral districts and about 59,000 polling stations in 31 provinces, including 15,000 mobile and 44,000 fixed stations.
The number of eligible voters was 61,172,298, including 30,945,133 men and 30,227,165 women.
