Saudi security forces arrest GPC senior leader

RIYADH, Feb. 28(YPA)-Saudi security authorities have arrested a senior in the General People’s Congress (GPC) upon his arrival in the kingdom for the Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca.

Sources said that Saudi security forces arrested Sheikh Ali Al-Dhubaibi when a group of Yemeni expatriates gathered to welcome him coming in from Jordan.

The gathering of dozens of Yemeni expatriates, especially from his hometown of Raymah province, to receive Al-Dhubaibi in a large procession, sparked the anger of the Saudi authorities, who intercepted the cars and halted the reception ceremony.

Sources confirmed the arrest of Al-Dhubaibi and a number of Yemeni expatriates who organised his reception ceremony.
