CAIRO, Feb. 18 (YPA) – A senior military commander loyal to the Saudi-led coalition has been assassinated in the Egyptian capital Cairo, for three days.
Yemeni sources said that Hassan al-Obaidi, the director of the Military Industrialization Department in the Ministry of Defense in the coalition-backed Aden government, was found dead, bound with ropes, and the body showed signs of fatal stab wounds inside his apartment in Cairo.
For its part, the Yemeni embassy in Cairo asked the media outlets to be precise in publishing the case of Al-Obeidi’s assassination. Confirming that specialists were assigned by the embassy to follow up on the case.
While the Egyptian authorities did not issue any clarification about the circumstances of Al-Obaidi’s assassination.
Al-Obaidi is considered one of the military leaders affiliated with the Islah Party.
Activists expected that the UAE was behind the assassination of Al-Obaidi, due to the escalation of the conflict between the coalition forces against the backdrop of the appointment of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as prime minister in the coalition-backed government.
