Euro-Med Rights Monitor: Israeli military offensive against Rafah has already begun, and crime of genocide continues
GAZA, Feb. 14 (YPA) – Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, confirmed on Wednesday, that Israeli military attacks have already begun against the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, affirming that the genocide has targeted Rafah city through killing, starvation, and deprivation of health services.
In a statement, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said it had documented the killing of 280 people in Rafah, including around 155 children and women by the Israeli occupation forces.
“The Israeli forces also destroyed about 220 residential units (in Rafah) completely or partially, since the International Court of Justice issued the decision on January 26th last year.”
According to the statement, the humanitarian aid that reached Rafah Governorate did not meet the minimum urgent humanitarian needs
It welcomed South Africa’s request to the International Court of Justice to prevent an unprecedented massacre in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
It continued: “We emphasize the importance of this request, which came in the context of South Africa’s monitoring and response to the dangerous developments in the sector, especially Rafah Governorate, the last haven for refugees.”
It stressed that “South Africa’s request would highlight Israel’s violation of all precautionary measures previously ruled by the International Court of Justice and obliged Tel Aviv to prevent and refrain from committing genocide in Gaza Strip.”
“South Africa’s request could create a real opportunity for the International Court of Justice to fulfill its role in protecting Palestinians in Gaza from the genocide committed by Israel against them, and to take new precautionary measures that have a practical impact, including a ceasefire,” the statement read.
It added: “Instead of facilitating the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip, Israel has escalated its measures to restrict the arrival of aid, and all residents of Gaza Strip are now suffering from severe food insecurity.”
The statement warned of the increasing number of deaths resulting from hunger, malnutrition, or diseases related to them in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier today, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression reached to 28,576 martyrs and 68,291 injuries since October 7th last year.
