UAE to establish government controlled by STC in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 12 (YPA) -The UAE is making arrangements to form a “mini-government” specifically for the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to run the city of Aden and the rest of the southern provinces, signaling a return to Yemen’s status before the establishment of Yemeni unity on May 22, 1990, southern media reported.

“An upcoming decision will be announced by the STC to form a so-called ‘mini-southern government’ to run Aden and the rest of the southern provinces,” Southern journalist and politician Majid al-Daeri said in a post on his X account.

Al-Daeri stated that the STC will officially withdraw from the “government” after Saudi Arabia appoints Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, affiliated with the Islah Party, as its prime minister, following the overthrow of Moeen Abdul-Malik last week.

He pointed out that the STC council will appoint Ahmed bin Breik as the head of the proposed government from the UAE, amid expectations of keeping bin Mubarak in Aden by international desire and Saudi insistence, according to him.

Al-Daeri wondered, saying: “Will a southern government succeed in rescuing the collapsed economic situation in the south?”
