Yemeni riyal witnesses significant drop against US dollar in Aden

ADEN, Jan. 27 (YPA) – The Yemeni riyal experienced on Saturday a significant drop against the US dollar in Aden, southern Yemen, due to the inability of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to address the deteriorating living conditions.

The US dollar’s selling price reached 1,598 Yemeni riyals, while its purchase price reached 1,586 riyals, according to banking sources, which expected a potential deterioration in the Yemeni riyal amid the disappearance of the dollar from the market.

The sources added that the Saudi riyal’s selling price reached 420 riyals, attributed to the economic imbalance without government reforms to limit catastrophic collapse, impacting citizens’ livelihoods.
