Joint statement by US-UK aggression on attacks in Yemen

WORLD, Jan. 23 (YPA) – The United States Central Command said that the United States and United Kingdom (UK), supported by Bahrain, Canada, Australia, and the Netherlands, carried new strikes in Yemen in the early hours of Tuesday morning, targeting eight Yemeni locations.

The US Central Command statement claimed that the bombing targeted Ansarullah positions used to attack US Navy commercial and naval vessels.

The statement emphasized that the purpose of the strikes is to weaken Ansarullah ability to attack US warships and target commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

For its part, The British Ministry of Defence stated that Royal Air Force warplanes used precision-guided “Paveway IV” bombs to hit multiple targets at two military sites near the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

British Defence Minister Grant Shapps vowed to carry out more military strikes against Yemeni sites, saying that British forces would launch further strikes against Ansarullah to limit the group’s stockpiles and its ability to threaten global trade.

An American official clarified in a statement to Al Jazeera that US forces used Tomahawk missiles and airstrikes to target the sites.

Additionally, the US Fox News channel reported that the United States and Britain executed an attack on about 10 targets associated with the Ansarullah group.
