LAHJ, Jan. 22 (YPA) – Hundreds of people went out in an angry demonstration on Monday in the city of Al-Houta, the center of Lahj province, which is controlled by Saudi-led coalition, demanding the payment of their salaries.
Participants from educators and the health sector organized a protest in front of the local authority headquarters, denouncing the pro-coalition government’s cutting of their salaries since last December.
The protesters demanded that the authorities in Lahj pay their salaries and work to improve water and electricity services. They denounced the economic collapse that affected the prices of various goods and foodstuffs due to the deterioration of the local currency exchange rate against foreign currencies.
The demonstration was called for Sunday by the Labor Union and the trade union committees in Lahj, in addition to a comprehensive strike in all schools in protest against the non-payment of teachers’ dues, to whom the government did not pay any attention.
