Pro-STC media professionals moved to Mocha

TAIZ, Jan. 20 (YPA) – A number of journalists affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) have been displaced to the city of Mocha, west of Taiz province, to work for media outlets affiliated with “Tareq Affash”, media sources reported on Friday.

The sources stated that Tareq Affash has attracted several journalists loyal to the STC, who have recently moved to work for one of the channels funded by the United Arab Emirates.

Furthermore, the sources added that media officials within Affash’s factions enticed some journalists in various media outlets affiliated with the STC with financial incentives. This led some of the journalists in STC to resign from their previous positions and head towards Mocha.

The sources pointed out that the process of attracting media personnel is ongoing, especially in “Aden Independent Channel,” affiliated with the STC, which advocates for the project of the STC, demanding a return to Yemen’s situation before the achievement of Yemeni unity in May 1990, exploiting the state of the regional control over media within the STC.

Affash’s media has shifted focus, unveiling the Council, especially after the closure of one of the channels supporting the Council by the UAE. The channel’s equipment was moved from Aden to Mocha to work on financing a channel specifically for Tareq Affash during the past month.
