OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 02 (YPA) The Palestinian Ministry of Education said on Tuesday that 4,156 students had been martyred and 7,818 others injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7 on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
According to the ministry, more than 4,119 students have been martyred in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression, with 7,536 injured, while in the West Bank, 37 students have been martyred and 282 others have been injured, with 85 others arrested.
The statement indicated that 221 teachers and administrators were killed and 703 were injured in Gaza, while five were injured and more than 71 were detained in the West Bank.
The ministry also reported that 278 government schools and 65 others affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) were bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip, including 83 severely damaged and seven completely destroyed, and 38 schools in the West Bank were stormed and vandalized.
According to the statement, Israeli targeting of schools affected 90% of government school and educational buildings, which were subjected to direct and indirect damage, as well as 29% of school buildings that could not be operated due to total demolition or severe damage, and 133 government schools were used as shelter centers in the Gaza Strip.
