Marib tribes put pro-coalition government in critical position

MARIB, Dec. 31 (YPA) – Tribal sources in the city of Marib revealed on Saturday remarkable developments in the “Al-Matareh” issue and the road blockade imposed by the tribes nearly a week ago in protest against the decision of the Saudi-led coalition authorities to raise the prices of oil derivatives.

The protesting armed tribesmen put before the mediation committee several conditions to lift the blockade they imposed on the passage of oil tankers outside the oil production areas in the Safer fields, according to the sources.

The sources stated that the most prominent conditions for the tribes are to reveal the volume of oil and gas resources that are produced from Marib province and to reduce the financial frivolity of diplomatic representation missions on behalf of Yemen abroad and limit it to what is necessary only in those missions.

The protesters demanded that the price increase announced by the pro-coalition government authorities in fuel prices be postponed and that an anti-corruption committee be formed.

The tribal leadership warned the forces loyal to the coalition against undertaking any military action with the aim of forcing the tribes to give up their demands, especially since these demands concern all Yemenis, affirming at the same time the readiness of the tribesmen to confront any attack attempt by the forces loyal to the coalition in Marib.

The city of Marib is experiencing a state of paralysis as a result of the high price of fuel, as the price of one liter of gasoline reached 2,500 riyals in Marib after it was 175 riyals.
