HR report registers 2,700 cases of detainees in 9 secret prison in Taiz

TAIZ, July 10 (YPA) –  Nine secret prisons belonging to Islah party are existed  under its control, and  more than 2,700 detainees and hidden are registered  in Taiz province, according to a recent human rights report.

Human rights sources revealed the existence of three secret prisons to hide and torture the disappeared to death in Asifra area, as well as a prisons in  Electricity Corporation, Badrum Judicial Complex in Jarrah mount, Musbah Club, and the Na’ama Rassam School, and the Education Bureau, which is considered as a reserve prison for Islah party

According to statistics released by the human rights office in Taiz, the number of those who were forcibly disappeared exceeded 2700 people, under the pretext of their allegiance to Ansar Allah and the Sana’a government.

Human rights activist, Mukhtar al-Shumairi, confirms the expansion of the arrests operations to be involved all those opposed Islah party in Taiz.

Al-Shumairi said after the outbreak of confrontations between UAE-backed Salafist group and the armed elements of Islah Party, the movement of arrests has involved to include innocent civilians.

Al-Shumairi added that the prisoners and detainees who are held in the prisons of the security services in the areas controlled by exiled President Hadi forces of the Islah Party are suffering, and most of them have been in solitary confinement for more than a year and are subjected daily to various kinds of physical and moral torture.
