Caretaker PM heads meeting to discuss jail conditions

SANAA, Dec.18 (YPA) – The Prime Minister in the caretaker government in Sanaa, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, stressed the humanitarian, moral, and national responsibility of continuously improving prison conditions and providing urgent needs to inmates.

This came during his chairmanship of a meeting held on Monday to discuss the conditions of the Rehabilitation and Correctional Department and its emergency requirements to carry out its duties for prisoners and to meet their basic needs of food, clothing, and medicine.

The meeting reviewed the report of the Human Rights and Freedoms Committee of the Shura Council on the conditions of prisons and inmates and the urgent and necessary needs of reformatories and their inmates.

The report touched on the conditions of female prisoners and their needs during the period of serving their sentences, as well as after their release, by helping them to have a means to ensure a decent living for them and their integration into society.
