Iran comments on US attempt to establish international naval force in Red Sea
TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (YPA) – The Iranian Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, confirmed that “the Red Sea is considered part of the Iranian region, and certainly no one can maneuver in it,” as he said.
Ashtiani said in a statement to the Iranian “ISNA” agency, in response to the United States’ attempt to establish an international naval force in the Red Sea with the participation of 40 countries, “The region no longer has room for anyone to move further, and it will be a power struggle. They will certainly not do such a thing, and if they want to do such stupidity, they will face enormous problems.”
He added: “All countries are present in this region, but this region is our region, and we have control over that region, and certainly no one can maneuver.”
An official in the US Department of Defense revealed last Tuesday that “America is seeking to establish an international force to protect maritime navigation in the Red Sea.”
The US official explained that “the international force to be formed to protect navigation in the Red Sea will include an area of 3 million miles of international waters.”
