WORLD, Dec. 12 (YPA) – A new ship came under attack in the Red Sea, media outlets reported on Tuesday, noting that no casualties have been reported so far.
According to media reports, the ship (STRINDA), a chemical tanker, was hit while passing through Bab al-Mandab by an anti-ship missile, launched from Yemen from an area controlled by the Sanaa government.
The reports added that the ship suffered damage caused by a fire on board.
The “USS Mason” destroyer responded to a distress call launched by the Norwegian ship, and extended a helping hand, while no one has reported responsibility for the attack.
The 144-meter-long tanker (STRINDA) was built in 2006 and media claimed that the ship was sailing towards the Suez Canal when the missile hit it.
