Sanaa holds WFP responsible for repercussions of its decision to stop humanitarian aid

SANAA, Dec. 10 (YPA) – The Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sanaa criticized the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) for its decision to stop humanitarian aid in Yemen, claiming it was ill-considered and unfair to the Yemeni people.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Council held the WFP responsible for the serious humanitarian repercussions on the lives of millions of people in need as a result of the program’s decision.

The Humanitarian Affairs Council stated that the decision was a political and punishment for Yemeni people who support the Palestinian people, who are being subjected to genocide by the Zionist entity.

The statement noted that the decision came in implementation of previous American threats to cut off humanitarian aid if the Yemeni position in support of the Palestinian people continued.

The Council explained that the WFP has secured the necessary resources to maintain its aid distribution level as in 2022, with no decrease in funding, indicating that the amount available this year exceeds the amount available last year, as per the program’s official website.
