Iranian Revolutionary Guard seizes two oil-smuggling ships

TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (YPA) – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Wednesday the seizure of two ships smuggling 4.5 million liters of fuel.

The Commander of the Fifth Region of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy said in a statement, “Two ships carrying smuggled fuel were seized south of Abu Musa Island.”

The statement stated that “13 foreign crew members and 21 other people were arrested in this operation.”

On July 5, Washington announced that its forces prevented two attempts by Iran to seize commercial oil tankers in international waters off Oman.

The Iranian Navy, affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, announced that “America has mobilized its forces in the Gulf waters to prevent stopping a ship that was smuggling Iranian fuel.”

The Commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Naval Forces, Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri, said, “Two A-10 fighters, designated for close combat, carried out dangerous and completely unprofessional behavior, then a helicopter, a drone, and another manned aircraft were sent to the area where we were searching the ship, but our fighters detained the ship,” according to the Iranian “Mehr” agency.
