Archaeological Yemeni figure sold at online auction for 900 euros
SANAA, Nov. 24 (YPA) – The Yemeni researcher interested in archaeology, Abdullah Mohsen, revealed on Friday that a 2,500-year-old Yemeni archaeological statue was sold at an online auction.
Mohsen said on his Facebook page, “The figure, which was sold for 900 euros, is of a rare and unique ancient Yemeni character that expresses fertility, with precisely drawn facial features.”
He added that the figure was displayed on the Catawiki online auction platform from October 13–18, 2023, and it is one of the antiques in the private collection of Mr. J. Bahammond, a British antiquities collector who studied the archeology of ancient Near East and Roman Britain at the University of Manchester.
