UAE-backed factions chase preacher in Shabwa

SHABWA, Nov. 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed factions have imposed an armed cordon with military vehicles on a mosque after citizens finished performing the Friday prayer in Shabwa province in eastern Yemen, well-informed sources said.

According to the sources, a number of gunmen on board military vehicles belonging to the extremist Salafist elements “Al-Amaliqa” to kidnap the imam and preacher of the Darbis mosque in Bayhan district because of his criticism of the “laggard countries” for their failure to support the oppressed people in the Gaza Strip in the Friday sermon.

The sources pointed out that the gunmen came on board two vehicles after the end of Friday prayers in search of the imam of the mosque, but he had left the mosque to his home for lunch, without giving further details.

The people of Bayhan blamed the UAE-backed factions and local authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition for the situation in the district as a result of the incitement campaign led by Ahmed al-Zuba against mosque imams and preachers in the district.

It is noteworthy that the imam and preacher of Eid al-Adha prayer in the city of Bayhan Abdullah al-Bani affiliated with the Islah party, was killed by the UAE-backed factions, which fired heavily on him and his companions after they performed with the masses of citizens Eid prayers last April.
