1,200 American political researchers call on Biden to stop Gaza war

WASHINGTON, Nov. 22 (YPA) – More than 1,200 politicians and researchers have called on US President Joe Biden and other American politicians to press for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip and an end to the Israeli siege of the Strip.

They pointed out, in an open letter, that “the conflict threatens to ignite a broader war in the region,” and puts the prisoners in the Gaza Strip at risk, as “their safe return depends on stopping the escalation of hostilities.”

The letter goes on to say: “As Israel’s long-standing patron and main ally, the United States bears special responsibility for and has a special impact on this crisis.”

“The US response to the Gaza war to date has severely damaged its credibility and moral authority, creating reasonable doubts about US statements about the rules-based international order,” the letter added.

According to the “Responsible Statecraft” website, which revealed the letter, its signatories include prominent researchers in Middle Eastern politics, after other demands by academic and professional groups calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to human suffering there.
