Belgium’s Deputy PM calls for sanctions on Israel
BRUSSELS, Nov. 09 (YPA) – Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, Petra De Sutter, has called on the government to impose sanctions on the Israeli entity and investigate the bombing of hospitals and refugee camps in the Gaza Strip.
“It is time to impose sanctions on Israel,” De Sutter told Newsblad. “Dropping bombs like rain is inhumane… It is clear that Israel does not care about international demands for a ceasefire.”
De Sutter stated that the European Union (EU) should immediately suspend the association agreement with the Israeli entity, which aims to improve economic and political cooperation.
She also added that a ban should be imposed on the import of products from the occupied Palestinian territories, and violent settlers, politicians and soldiers responsible for war crimes should be prevented from entering the European Union.
At the same time, De Sutter said that Belgium should increase funding for the International Criminal Court in The Hague to investigate the bombings while “cutting off the flow of money to Hamas.”
