CAIRO, Nov. 07 (YPA) – Egypt has informed the United States that the Zionist entity’s declared goal of removing Hamas from ruling the Gaza Strip is an unrealistic war goal, sources familiar with the matter said.
According to a report by the Middle East Eye, which affirmed that Egyptian officials gave the US official warnings on a regular basis about the war at a time when Cairo rejected American initiatives to assume a possible security role in the future in the besieged Gaza Strip and Israeli calls to accept the forced displacement of Palestinians.
These warnings highlighted Egypt’s desire to quickly end the war taking place across its borders, but they also confirmed how Cairo has taken a more assertive stance towards the conflict than some Israeli and Western officials expected, according to the report.
Experts said that the pressure exerted by the Zionist entity to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza exacerbated this rejection because it crystallized Egyptian fears that a long-term war there could destabilize the Sinai region while spreading locally among residents who support the Palestinian cause.
Egypt also rejected a plan previously posted by Middle East Eye, in which US and Israeli officials offered on Egypt to manage the security file in the Gaza Strip so that the Palestinian Authority could take over, in the event of Hamas’s defeat.
