SANAA, July 8 (YPA) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to rise the duration of the compulsory conscription for men from 12 to 16 months, after three years of its involvement in the war in Yemen, according to the UAE News Agency.
This decision confirms that the UAE suffered large losses in ranks of its troops participating within the Saudi-led coalition forces that are fighting in Yemen.
The UAE began the compulsory conscription in 2014 with a duration of 12 months for Emirati men who hold high school certificate or its equivalent, and nine months for women who are capable, provided that the conscription is voluntary and requires parental consent.
