Deputy Prime, Finance Minister meets UN official

SANAA, July 7 (YPA) – Deputy Prime, Minister of Finance, Hussein Abdullah Maqbuli, on Saturday met with director of the United Nations Good Governance and Peace-building Program.

In the meeting, the officials discussed the situation of the displaced people of Hodeidah province, the role of the United Nations and international organizations in providing food and shelter needs, and contributing to the restoration of necessary services and normalization of public life in the province of Hodeidah.

The officials also discussed the aspects related to the support of a Ras-Kuteba station by Mazut to operate the station with a larger generating capacity.

Maqbuli confirmed that the deliberate aggression in targeting the residential areas, water and electricity services, increased the suffering of citizens and make them displace to other provinces.

The silence of the international community and human rights organizations against the crimes committed against the people of Yemen in general and Hodeidah in particular has made the aggression continue in its crimes by using the various prohibited weapons to kill the Yemenis, destroy the infrastructure and force citizens to flee their homes and cities, Maqbuli added

The minister hailed  the efforts of the humanitarian organizations that contributed to help Hodeidah displaced persons, which support the efforts of the National Salvation Government in providing necessary services and normalizing life in Hodeidah.

For her part, the UN official pointed out that the continuation of electricity and water services is a key factor to alleviate the suffering and reduce the displacement from Hodeidah to other areas.

She confirmed that the support of Ras-Kuteba station by Mazut, which comes within the framework of humanitarian efforts to provide electricity to citizens in Hodeidah.
