Zionist entity closes Tamar gas field

PALESTINE, Oct. 10 (YPA) – The Israeli entity’s authorities directed on Tuesday the closure of the Tamar gas field, which is operated by Chevron corporation, due to safety concerns after the outbreak of violence.

“Our top priority is the safety of our employees, the communities in which we work, the environment, and our facilities,” Chevron said in a statement on Monday, indicating that it is still supplying customers in “Israel” and the region from another gas field, “Leviathan.”

The closure of the Tamar field may lead to reducing or even delaying shipments, after Egypt planned to resume liquefied natural gas exports this month before the European winter.

Gas discoveries in the occupied territories of “Israel” over the past two decades have transformed it into a country exporting blue fuel, and some supplies go to Egypt and also to Europe, which is looking for alternatives to Russian gas coming through pipelines.

Last August, the Zionist entity said that it would export more gas from the “Tamar” field to Egypt, with strengthening relations with neighboring countries, but these plans would faded after the Palestinian resistance movement “Hamas” launched “Operation” “Al-Aqsa Flood” from the Gaza Strip onto the occupied territories.

The Tamar gas field, located 24 kilometers west of Ashkelon, north of the Gaza Strip, being extracted from 6 wells, and the production of each one ranges between 7.1 and 8.5 million cubic meters per day, according to Chevron.
