DOHA, Oct. 02 (YPA) – The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, discussed with Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Lolwah Al Khater, the importance of strengthening regional and international support for UN mediation efforts in Yemen.
A statement issued by the Office of the UN Envoy stated that the discussion addressed the progress made to support the parties to agree on measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, as well as to commit to implementing a ceasefire throughout the country, and resuming an UN-brokered inclusive political process.
“The solution to the conflict must be negotiated by the parties to the war, because increasing regional cohesion undoubtedly gives greater hope of reaching a solution to the situation in Yemen,” Grundberg said. The region’s major role in accompanying Yemen on the path to peace, as well as restoring Reconstruction and recovery.”
According to the statement, he participated in the launch event of the Global Institute for Strategic Research (GISR), where he dialogued with a group of experts about possible approaches to collective action to address the challenges of peace building and reconstruction in Yemen.
