Clashes between Islah Party militants leave civilian casualties in Taiz

TAIZ, Sept. 30 (YPA) – At least one civilian was killed and several others wounded in violent clashes that took place between gunmen affiliated with Islah Party factions in the center of Taiz city, southwest Yemen, on Saturday.

Activists on social media platforms reported that strong clashes with light and medium weapons took place between gunmen within the military units of the armed Islah factions in the city, near “Sinan” roundabout, opposite Al-Mujahid Market in the center of the city.

According to activists, the clashes led to the death of a buffet worker and the injury of a number of pedestrians.

The activists explained that the cause of the clashes was due to disputes over a petrol station in the area.

This comes hours after killing a person and injuring 13 others due to armed clashes between gunmen at a wedding party in Al-Ba’rara area in the center of the city.

Taiz province is witnessing major security chaos and bloody conflicts among the armed factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.
