WORLD, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Canada on Monday expelled an Indian diplomat believed to have a credible link to the murder of a Sikh leader in western Canada last June, Canada’s foreign minister said.
“Today we have expelled a senior Indian diplomat from Canada,” Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said, without naming the diplomat.
Jolie stressed that Ottawa “will not tolerate any interference in its affairs.”
Earlier on Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaking in parliament, said Ottawa suspected Indian authorities of involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Negar, who was shot dead on June 18.
“Over the past few weeks, Canadian security agencies have been investigating possible links between Indian government agents and the killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Negar,” he said, adding that he had personally informed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
