Turkey sends new medical aid to Libya

WORLD, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Turkey has sent new medical aid, including two field hospitals and additional medical staff, to Libya, which has seen unprecedented flooding, leaving thousands dead and afflicted.

“This evening we will send an additional 148 people on board a ship that will leave the port of Izmir Sanjak (west),” The Turkish Health Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday night.

It said the ship was loaded with “two fully equipped field hospitals, six emergency intervention units and ten ambulances in addition to  more than 12 emergency vehicles”.

The ministry said in its statement that Turkey was one of the first countries to move on Tuesday to help Libya after unprecedented catastrophic floods in the east, especially in the city of Derna.
