TAIZ, Sept. 13 (YPA) – A general strikes was carried out by the Syndicate of Faculty Members at Taiz University on Tuesday, to demand the settlement of the financial and administrative conditions.
The Syndicate confirmed in a statement that its strike includes all university colleges and centers, in addition to other public university unions that join also to announce a comprehensive strike.
The statement called on the coalition-backed government to pay the salaries of faculty members and their financial dues related to academic promotions, as well as to increase salaries in proportion to the rise in living costs.
This strike comes as a result of the deteriorating economic conditions in the country, the rise in prices and the high cost of living, amid the silence of the government and its lack of interest in the demands of the faculty members.
