Sanaa forces thwart major advance of coalition forces in Lahj

LAHJ, Aug. 17 (YPA) – Sanaa forces thwarted on Thursday a large advance of armed factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition on the Karish front in Lahj province, southern Yemen.

Military units from the “Fifth Support Brigade” and recruits of the “13th Brigade” tried to advance through two lanes from their positions in the “Al-Dhawari” mountains towards the positions of the Sanaa forces in the “Hamalah” area, according to local sources.

The Sanaa forces managed to thwart the attempt, which was carried out by the coalition forces under heavy military bombardment, the sources added.

This comes three days after the coalition artillery bombed civilians’ homes and farms in “Hamalah” and other areas, the most severe of which was in the “Habil Hanash” area of Al-Musaimeer district.
