Child drowns in Mahweet

MAHWEET, Aug 14 (YPA) -A child has drowned in a pond in Al-Rajm district of Mahweet governorate, according to the Civil Defense Authority in the province.

The authority identified the child as Sultan Muhammad Al-Marjla.

According to the director of the authority’s branch in the province, Major Adel Issa, the child drowned while he was swimming in the pond.

He added that the body was recovered by the people of the area after they drained water from the pond.

The incident comes in light of the continued warnings of the Civil Defense Authority not to swim in dams and water barriers, as they are not suitable for swimming even if the person is an experienced swimmer
