Tension rises between UAE-backed factions in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug 12 (YPA) – Tensions have risen between UAE-funded factions, alarming of armed confrontations in the coming hours in Mayfa’a district, east of Shabwa governorate.

Local sources in the province said that the Al-Amailqa factions tightened the noose on the elements of the “Shabwa Defense Forces” located in the city of Azzan in the district of “Mayfaa”, south of the city of Ataq, the center of the province.

The sources added that the elements of Al-Amailqa made a provocation to the the Shabwa defense factions led by Naseer Barshid, when they tried to interfere in its affairs, amid attempts to impose its control over Azzan using force to acquire the levies collected by the factions from merchants and citizens.

The sources confirmed that Al-Amaliqa forces deployed their military vehicles in the Al-Houta junction near the Azzan station and set up a number of military checkpoints amid rejection of the elements of Barshid in the city.

The sources pointed out that Al-Amaliqa forces carried out a wide search of the cars of citizens and passers-by without coordination with the elements of Barshid.

The sources expected rise of tension between the UAE-affiliated factions in Azzan and Mayfa’a, alarming of  armed confrontations between the two sides to serve the interests of their leaders.
