Protest calls for release of Yusra Shater being held in Islah prisons in Marib

SANAA, Aug 10 (YPA) – The family of the detainee, Dr. Yusra Mohammed Hassan Shater, and the staff of Higher Institute of Health Specialities organized a protest on Wedensday in front of the World Health Organization office in the capital,  Sanaa.

Participants in the vigil demanded the release of Dr. Yusra, who is being detained in the  Islah militants’ Pr prisons in Marib province. Yusra works for the World Health Organization office as a central supervisor in immunization campaigns.

A statement issued by the vigil called for the prosecution of those who violated international covenants that stipulate the protection of health workers.

The statement called on human rights organizations, the United Nations, the Red Cross and the World Health Organization to take all necessary measures to release Dr. Yusra.
