KHARTOUM, Aug 06 (YPA) – Violent clashes erupted on Saturday morning between the Sudan army and the Rapid Support Forces south and west of the capital Khartoum, according to witnesses.
On Saturday night, the Sudan army said that dozen members of the RSF were killed and injured, and 10 military vehicles were destroyed during an attack by the army forces on the RSF’s positions in the vicinity of the “armored corps” south of Khartoum.
Army spokesman Nabil Abdullah said in an audio recording on Facebook that “the Rapid Support Forces tried to attack the army’s positions in the vicinity of the armoured corps and clashed with our forces.”
“The army forces were able to defeat the enemy and inflict heavy losses in lives, dozens of dead and wounded, and the destruction of 10 military vehicles,” he said.
Earlier, the RSF announced that it had “thwarted an attempt to break the siege of the armored corps south of Khartoum”.
The army forces “tried to break the siege imposed on them in the vicinity of the armoured corps south of Khartoum and clashed with our forces, who thwarted their attack and chased them into their camp, leaving behind great losses in lives, equipment and prisoners”, the RSF said.
