Saudi-funded factions carry out wide military deployment in Aden

ADEN, Aug 03 (YPA) – The Saudi-funded factions carried out on Thursday a wide military deployment in the Crater area and the vicinity of Aden International Airport.

Local sources in the city confirmed that the Saudi-affiliated Dera al-Watan forces Shield forces deployed several military vehicles in the vicinity of Maashiq Palace, in preparation for taking over the tasks of fully securing the palace instead of the UAE-funded “Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions.

The sources stated that the military deployment came before the head of the “leadership council” Rashad al-Alimi and the pro-coalition government return to the palace during the next two days, in conjunction with Saudi-backed officials from various countries to exercise their duties in the city.

The sources indicated that the reinstatement of Saudi-funded officials aims to clamp down on the STC’s movements and limit its control over service institutions in the southern provinces.

Saudi Arabia threatened the STC to implement the so-called “Riyadh Agreement” signed between the government of the resigned president “Hadi” and the STC in early November 2019, which stipulates the return of the pro-Islah “presidential protection brigades” that were expelled by the STC in the confrontations that since took place in the city in mid-August 2019, in the city.
