SHABWA, Aug 01 (YPA) – Gunmen have attacked the house of a prominent military commander affiliated with the UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen’s southeastern Shabwa province.
According to sources, gunmen believed to be belonging to the Islah party shelled the house of Wajdi Baoum, commander of the Second Brigade of Shabwa Defense, with RPG shell in south of Ataq city.
Sources added that the shelling caused extensive material damage to the house while the commander Baoum miraculously survived.
The attack on Baoum’s house came as part of the conflict between UAE-backed factions and Saudi-backed factions in the province.
It is worth mentioning that Islah Special Security Forces accused Baoum of carrying assassination attempt against its commander Abed Rabbo La’akab last July.
