Sanaa refutes allegations of death of war prisoner under torture

SANAA, July 30 (YPA) – The Sanaa government has called on the United Nations to form a fact-finding committee into the conditions of prisoners in its custody as well as those in the custody of parties loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, led by the Islah Party.

The head of the Prisoners’ Committee in Sanaa, Abdulqadir Al-Mortada, denied the allegations of the coalition’s tools regarding the death of the prisoner, “Sami Al-Watiri”, under torture.

Al-Mortada confirmed in a tweet on the “Twitter” platform on Sunday that this news is totally and utterly untrue, as the prisoner was not subjected to any kind of torture, stressing that the prisoner “Al-Watiri” is in Sanaa in full health and that he contacted his family and assured them that he was fine.

He pointed out that this false news comes within the framework of covering up the crimes committed by the other party against the prisoners inside their prisons.

“We demand the formation of a committee by the United Nations to visit the prisons of each party and reveal Sanaa’s dealings with the coalition prisoners and the other party’s dealings with Sanaa prisoners,” Al-Mortada said.
