Armed group breaks into tribal sheikh’s house in Taiz

TAIZ, July. 27 (YPA) – Armed elements of the coalition forces stormed the house of a prominent tribal sheikh in Al-Shamayatain district in Taiz province, southern Yemen.

Activists on social media said that the security campaign charged with apprehending the killers of the UN official, Moayed Hamidi, in Taiz, stormed the house of “Ahmed Saif Al-Sharjabi”, looting its contents and arresting his boys.

“After the failure of the security campaign to arrest the killers of the UN official, who is believed to have arrived in Ethiopia or Djibouti, the security campaign stormed the house of UAE-backed Sheikh Ahmed Saif Al-Sharjabi and arrested five of his relatives, under the pretext of searching for wanted persons accused of the assassinating Hamidi,” Aya Al-Sami’i, one of activists said on Facebook platform.

She confirmed that Marwan Abdul-Raqeeb, his two brothers Hamza and Majed, his cousins Khaled Abdel-Rahman, and his two brothers, Abu Bakr, a were arrested during the campaign.

The sources stated that Sheikh Marwan Abdul-Raqeeb Ahmed Saif Al-Sharjabi, affiliated with the armed factions affiliated with the UAE, had previously been subjected to an assassination attempt by the Islah Party on April 2.
